These women have made history on their own terms. Their impact on the world has been a real motivation for women all around the world. Oprah Winfrey
She is the second African American woman to have her own channel "The Oprah Winfrey Network", after the end of her legendary show "The Oprah Winfrey Show". This channel is the most watched in America. Her unfortunate childhood of sexual abuse and mistreatment has made her a strong woman who stands up for her rights and ideas despite her history. Her strength of speech and her desire to succeed quickly allowed her to climb the ladder and become the first black woman to become a millionaire.
Rosa PARKS
She is an African American woman known as the iconic figure in the fight against racial profiling in the United States. On December 1, 1955, she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a bus. This woman did not want to capitulate, she wanted to fight to show that the black community would not be inferior in any way. She became a symbol, one who stood up against racial prejudice.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
She is a Nigerian author and socio-political commentator gifted with an amazing talent. Her book "Americanah" is a worldwide success. Her stories are rich and openly feminist. She denounces the inequality between men and women that has long existed in our society. She also denounces the image of women that is often criticized, especially the hair of black women who are seen as unkempt or not clean. She is one of the most influential African women in Africa as well as in America.
Gabrielle Union
Gabrielle Union is a successful American actress and author. Known for her many roles as a courageous and powerful woman, most recently in the series Being Mary Jane, she has made a real name for herself in the film world and in the black American community. Attacked and raped at the age of 19, she uses her celebrity to support victims of assault and engage in conversations still considered taboo such as infertility, rape, assaults on black youth, competition between black female celebrities in Hollywood, among others. She created her own brand of hair products dedicated to Afro and mixed-race hair, nicknamed Flawless by Gabrielle Union.
Michelle Obama
She knew how to make her history, her personality and her style, a strength to establish herself as a political and social symbol. She is a brilliant lawyer and writer who became First Lady of the United States in 2009 and the first black woman to enter the White House alongside her husband, former US President Barack Obama. Indeed. She used her influence within the local Democratic Party to propel her husband to the top of his political career. She launched several programs to fight against: obesity, the LGBT cause, military families, and access to higher education.
Becoming a successful black woman is an accomplishment like no other.
